Through Someone Elses Eyes.

I was thinking about my grandmother today.
Granny. She rocked.
I think I was about 9 years old when she died, so my memories of her are limited to perspective of a 9-year-old. She made a big impact on my life though, in many ways.

One thing I was remembering was something she said about rude people.
When someone is rude to us, it is tempting for us to be rude right back to them, because they're just rude people who deserve rudeness in return. Right? But Granny's challenge was to put yourself in their shoes. To see things through their eyes. Most likely they're not just "Rude People". Maybe they had a bad day. Maybe they just heard some terrible news. Maybe they're really hurting inside.

Kind of makes you think twice about retaliating, huh?

Boy! Your Grandmother was smart! You just never know. . .She is so right, most people just worry about themselves and how they feel never thinking about what could have happened.

Love your photo! Very creative!

Oh my goodness. I LOVE your Granny and her timeless advice. It is so easy to be mean and snippy back. I love that she said to think about their day. I try to smile at people when I am driving to work in the morning. Everyone looks so angry and unhappy so I try to take time to smile. I let people pull out in front of me and at the lights I always look over and smile. Life is too short NOT to share a smile, right? I LOVE your picture. Beautiful! Beautiful post!

Huh. Great advise! And something I kinda "listened" to earlier... Someone sent an email to me with a comment that I sure would have loved to have been "smart" right back to... but then, I may have been reading it in the wrong tone...

Grandma's are wise.
