Isn't he cute? He's been hanging out in our little back yard all week. I've become quite attached. :-) He doesn't do much... Just hops around... eats... hops around and eats some more. Oh, and he twitches his whiskers and ears. But oh man, he's cute! I could sit and watch for hours.

Favorite Things - Furry Little Critters.
Yesterday morning I was getting ready for work as usual. I didn't have a lot of time left before I'd have to leave, and my husband knew that. But he also knows his wife very well, and knows that despite having finish doing my hair and makeup, get dressed, and get out the door, there are just certain things that are good interruptions for me. There are certain things that just beg for me to slow down and enjoy them for a moment.
He knows that in my heart I have a weak spot for little furry critters.
In the back yard he had spotted from the window a little brown bunny, munching away on all the greenery in our little backyard that has sprouted up from all the rain we've gotten. So Cute! It just sat and munched, and hopped around and twitched its little whiskers, having no idea that it was being watched from the window overhead.
Bunnies, Squirrels, Hamsters.... I just melt. Definitely on my list of "Favorite Things". Take me to the Small Mammal House and the Zoo and you'll be there for quite a while because I'll have my nose pressed up to the glass watching intently at all the whisker twitching. I grew up with hamsters, so that is probably where my weak spot for little furry critters came from. They were always sweet little hamsters who would cuddle and fall asleep in your hands, not the feisty ones that that bite. The were curious things, and were known to escape from their cages from time to time, but always came looking for their owner upon completing their Houdini act. Good memories.

Flowers and Critters.
I was taking photos of my flowers today when a little critter decided to steal the spotlight. Can you see him?

Skitter.
Some days are long. Some days are busy. And some days we have too much fun. This is Skitter the Squirrel. He showed up in a box at my office today. Tomorrow I will put him into one of the preschool classrooms to wait for the the Sunday school children to come when he will help to teach them a Bible lesson. Today, he provided some fun by peeping into the windows of office doors and making people laugh.

The Beginnings.
Today it was down to business.
Lots of meetings... Listening to people talk. But it was all very good and very helpful. I feel like I'm on information overload at this point, but I figure that is better than being completely in the dark. I'm figuring things out like creating lesson plans, which I can tell right now will not be my most favorite activity. I'm decorating my classroom (which needs a lot of help), and the coolest part about my classroom is that it has cute little desks! For my little students! I can't wait until all those cute little desks are filled up with cute little Thai kids.
Classes start on June 18th. Ten Days from today! I think it's the first month that I'm most nervous about. Not only will it be an adjustment for me as I learn how to be a teacher, but it will be an adjustment for my students. They are used to kindergarten, and suddenly as they find themselves in 1st grade they will discover many changes. They will no longer have nap time, they will be at school all day rather than for a half day, they will have to sit at a desk, they will have homework. So it will be a learning experience for us all. My class size is nice though. I will only have 11 students, except for the first month. In July there will be another Grade 1 teacher coming, and so there will be two grade 1 classes. But until she arrives I will have her students as well as mine, making 23 students.
All in all... Life in in the Eastern Hemisphere is grand.
Oh, and I can't forget to tell you about my roommate.

His name is Geico. He's a good little roommate. He comes and he goes. And he sometimes hides in my shoes which I'll admit is a little strange. But I told him that as long as he stays away from me while I'm sleeping then I don't mind living with him.
