Since moving away from the Northern Virginia they have gotten an earthquake, a huge hurricane, and now they're getting terrible flooding. What crazy weather anomaly is next for them?
Meanwhile... We've gotten some rain here, it has been cooler the last few days, and mostly it has been sunny. Nothing extreme.

Wintery Mix.
Yesterday evening I was sitting in our office at home, puttering away at something-or-other, winding down from the day. My husband was at his desk across the room from me. I sat listening to the click-clack of his fingers on his keyboard. But then I realized something. That noise wasn't the sound of his typing. It was coming from outside. It was the sound of sleet, snow, freezing rain, or "wintery mix" as the local weather forecasters like to call it when they don't really know what it is other than a cold mess. I continued to listen to this same click-clack on the windows as I fell asleep.
And so, of course, by the time we woke up in the morning we found our world under a solid sheet of ice. It was kind of a pain getting it all scraped off my car, but I was grateful for my neighbor who stopped to help me with it. The roads were okay once I got out of my neighborhood, though I carefully drove much more slowly than usual. But here's the kicker: When I got into work, I checked my email to find one saying that offices were opening at 1pm today! Why they couldn't have sent that email before I left is beyond me. But I decided to make the best of my morning. So what do I do? Take advantage of the beautiful scenery outside which is an absolute delight for my camera. And for me. I stayed out until my fingers were so cold they were going numb.

Narnia, with a little less magic.
"She began to walk forward, crunch-crunch over the snow and through the wood
toward the other light. In about 10 minutes she reached it and found it was a
lamp-post. As she stood looking at it, wondering why there was a lamp-post in
the middle of a wood and wondering what to do next, she heard a pitter patter
of feet coming towards her."

What is it about snow that just makes me want to curl up with a good book at home on the sofa while sipping something warm? Oh, why did I have to grow up and get a job? Watching the first real snowfall of the year while sitting at my desk at work just isn't very magical.

Mind Changing.
It is amazing how our viewpoints can drastically change in such a short amount of time. We can have our mind completely made up about a subject, but then if you change one factor, or adjust one element, we can make a total about-face in our thinking.
The last thing I wrote was about how it had been snowing so much, making me anxious to go outside. I wanted to go out, even if that meant braving the blustery cold air. For weeks and weeks the main topic of discussion everywhere was the snow, the cold, the ice... But now it is April, the snow is all melted, the flowers and trees are blooming and bursting with color, and its warm!
Oh man... It was so hot today... There was no air conditioning in my office and all day I watched the thermometer going up and up as my office became more and more humid and stifling.
Oy... See what I mean? You know you've done it too.

Cabin Fever
Snow is beautiful. In the air, on the ground, i love it. I have long since said that one of my favorite sounds is the sound of snow falling, when it is so peaceful and quiet that you can hear such a soft sound.
However.... When you've been buried under so much snow and ice that you can't recall how long it has been or even what day it is, it is then that the snow is no longer so pretty in my eyes.
When I've scarcely been able to get my poor car out of our street, not that anything is open to go to anyways, and when my own front porch is so slippery that it threatens my life, this is how I begin to feel:
Slowly but surely the snow is beginning to melt and I am able to greet the world outside beyond the eyesight of my kitchen windows once again.

Rain, Rain, Go Away...
It appears that Monsoon season has begun in the Kingdom of Thailand.
What I can't figure out is why, in a place with a monsoon season, is it so hard to find rain boots?
Our roof was leaking last night. It was great excitement. :-)
